About
About The Analyst's Path
A free course in reading a company's accounts and working out what it's worth, with every example worked in Indian rupees and in US dollars.
What it is
The course is 228 modules in 4 tracks, a glossary of 594 terms and 12 long guides. Every module is on this site in full. The app adds what a page can't: a quiz at the end of each module that you need to pass before the next one opens, flashcards that come back on a schedule, case labs, code exercises and an investing simulator.
Who it's for
Anyone who wants to read a company's filings and value the business: students, people moving into finance, and investors who want to check their own work. It starts from the accounting equation, so it assumes no finance background, and it takes Indian and US companies side by side, since they don't file the same way.
What it isn't
It isn't investment advice, and nothing here recommends buying or selling anything. The site isn't registered with SEBI as an investment adviser or a research analyst, or with any regulator anywhere. Companies are named as teaching specimens, and the investing simulator uses past and made-up markets, never real money. If you're making a real financial decision, take advice from someone regulated to give it (terms, section 8).
How a module is written and checked
Each module is written to one plan: what you'll be able to do, what it builds on, the teaching with worked examples, then the cards and the quiz. Before a release, scripts check every module against that plan. They also check that each numeric quiz question marks answers the way it says it will, check each quotation against the site's quotation rules and redo the arithmetic of the glossary's worked examples. If any of them fails, the release doesn't ship.
Rules, rates and thresholds are checked against the regulator's or the standard-setter's own text, and the guides list their sources. A figure that moves with the market or the law carries the date it was read.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, a wrong figure, a rule that has changed or a link that's broken, write to hello@consultantlearning.org with the page's address and what's wrong. We check it against the source and fix the module or the page in the next release.
How it's paid for
The adverts on these pages pay for the hosting. They are served by Adsterra, and by Google once it approves the site; they're picked from the page you're reading, never from your record, and advertisers get nothing about what you study. Nothing is requested from an ad network for a reader in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland. There is no paid plan.
