Decision journal
M9.04 · M6.05Also called investment journal, decision log.
A contemporaneous record of each decision: the reasoning, the expected outcome with probabilities, and what would change the view.
It exists because memory rewrites itself. Without a record, every past decision is remembered as more considered than it was, and no learning is possible.
The entries that pay for the whole practice are the ones where the outcome was good and the reasoning was wrong, since those are invisible without the record and are the ones that will cost money the next time.
Write it before the outcome is known. That is the entire discipline.
