Reset is the most under-used control in the product, and it pays to know what it does. It returns every placeholder on the selected slides to the position, size and formatting its layout specifies. It doesn't touch content or anything outside a placeholder, and you can't apply it partially. (PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 desktop, Home tab, Reset; checked 2026-09-08. The control exists under different names in other tools and the behaviour of each needs its own check.)
What can Reset fix, and what is left?
That tells you which of Prayaana's overrides it can reach. Geometry, all 58 of them. The font-family overrides that sit inside placeholders, 21 of the 27. The font-size overrides inside placeholders, 24 of the 31. The colour overrides inside placeholders, 31 of the 49. Total 134, which is 60.1 percent of the deck's overrides, cleared in one pass across thirty-four slides at about four seconds a slide.

Everything Reset cannot reach is outside a placeholder, and the rest of the repair is a sequence of passes at what remains, each one taking the largest class it can reach.
| # | Pass | Fixes | Cumulative | Cumulative share | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Reset, all slides | 134 | 134 | 60.1% | 2.27 min |
| 2 | Replace Fonts, whole file | 6 | 140 | 62.8% | 0.75 min |
| 3 | Remap to a layout, retype into placeholders, delete pasted layout objects | 30 | 170 | 76.2% | 29.67 min |
| 4 | Point remaining fills and chart series at theme slots | 18 | 188 | 84.3% | 7.50 min |
| 5 | Reset bullets and list levels | 18 | 206 | 92.4% | 6.00 min |
| 6 | Stray font sizes outside placeholders, by hand | 7 | 213 | 95.5% | 1.75 min |
Total repair time is 47.93 minutes, or 1.41 minutes a slide, and it removes 213 of 223 overrides. The remaining 10 are the documented one-offs, so the deck finishes at 95.5 percent repaired and 100 percent explained.
Why must Reset come before Replace Fonts?
The order isn't a matter of taste. Two hard constraints fix it, and breaking either one costs you real work.
Reset must come first because it discards anything you've done by hand to a placeholder. Spend twenty minutes carefully aligning title boxes, then run Reset, and those twenty minutes are gone in one keystroke. Most analysts learn this the hard way and never forget it.
Replace Fonts must come after Reset because Reset has already removed 21 of the 27 font-family overrides. Run the dialog first and you're choosing which of several families to keep across a file that still has them scattered everywhere. Run it second and it's one confirmation against six remaining boxes. (PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 desktop, Home tab, Replace, Replace Fonts; checked 2026-09-08.)
Where does the repair time go?
The third pass is where the time goes. It takes 29.67 minutes of the 47.93, which is 61.9 percent of the repair, for 30 of the 213 fixes. Moving content from a floating box into a placeholder is manual work at about seventy seconds an element. You're cutting text, checking that it has picked up the placeholder's rank, and confirming nothing has reflowed. There's no batch operation for it. That arithmetic should stop you ever creating a floating title, and it makes a better argument than any rule about tidiness.
