Quarterly report on Form 10-Q
Also called 10-Q, quarterly report.
The quarterly filing of an American public company, unaudited and shorter than the annual one, covering three of the four quarters.
Its value is timeliness and its risk is that unaudited numbers change. Try a standard check. Derive the fourth quarter by subtracting three quarters from the audited year, and compare it against the sum of the reported quarters. It occasionally finds something.
Indian companies file quarterly results with the exchanges under a similar cadence, and those results get a limited review, short of a full audit.
Year-end adjustments land in the fourth quarter.
